Patient Care Technician PositionSummary Performs patient care assistant responsibilities for patients as part of the nursing team. Performs collection of blood specimens and records Electrical impulses of the heart as ordered by a physician. Assists with general office/clerical functions on nursing units. Primary Position Responsibilities 1. Assistance with total patient care under the direction of the RN 2. Promotes Patient Safety 3. Promotes and supports an organized work environment 4. Preforms collection of blood specimens and EKGs as ordered by the physician 5. Preforms general office/clerical functions on the nursing units 6. Other Duties as assigned Work Contact Group (Internal/External) Nurses, doctors, interdepartmental staff, families and patients. Reporting Relationships Reports to (position): Director Intermediate Care Qualifications Minimum Education: Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred: Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program. Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation): Required: Previous hospital experience as a nursing assistant or physician office experience. Preferred: Phlebotomy experience. License, Registry or Certification: Required: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required or prior experience as a nursing assistant in an acute care setting. CPR certification is required. Crisis prevention Training (CPI) is required and must be renewed annually. If not certified upon hire must obtain certification within 6 months. CPI Course will be provided by Hunterdon. Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities: Required: Normal basic patient care equipment, wheelchairs and stretchers. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
