Job Overview
A leading hospital in New York City is seeking an experienced Patient Care Technician (PCT) for an evening/night assignment supporting the Recovery Room unit. This position is ideal for candidates with strong patient care experience in acute care settings and excellent communication skills.
Shift Details
- Monday – Friday
- 4:00 PM – 12:15 AM
- Rotating weekends required
- 8-week assignment
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and support under nursing supervision
- Assist patients with activities of daily living
- Monitor and record patient information as directed
- Support recovery room staff with patient flow and care activities
- Maintain patient comfort, safety, and cleanliness
- Communicate effectively with nurses, patients, and families
- Follow hospital safety, infection control, and patient care protocols
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of Nursing Attendant or Patient Care experience required
- Completion of an approved Patient Care Associate training program required
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous acute care or hospital experience
- Experience working in recovery room or post-anesthesia settings
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced clinical environments
