Join Our Team as a Full-Time Patient Care Technician - Senior!
Be part of an exciting time at UPMC Children's-join us in our beautiful new building as we grow our cardiac program and build something special together. We are looking for a dedicated Patient Care Technician - Senior to join our Cardiac Prep/Recovery Unit.
The position offers opportunities for growth, with a clear career ladder from Nursing Assistant to Patient Care Technician - Lead. A starting pay rate of $19.40/hour for Nursing Assistants is offered, based on experience and qualifications.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform patient care tasks, including ADLs, point-of-care testing, and basic medical procedures (e.g., IV/foley insertion/removal, specimen collection, wound care, etc..
Assist with physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies; report patient status changes to RNs.
Participate in patient/family education, quality initiatives, and department projects.
Adhere to safety policies, document accurately, and complete work efficiently
Transport cardiac-monitored patients and perform advanced tasks based on departmental needs (e.g., EKGs, NG tube removal.
Engage in continuous learning, feedback, and self-review.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must also have either
a 2 years of general healthcare experience and meet requirements of Patient Care Technician - Senior title,
b 1 year of experience (defined above and enrollment in PT/OT/PA program with completion of at least one clinical rotation,
c 1 year of experience (defined above and completion of a bachelor's degree in a health sciences field.
Annual completion of a professional contribution to be determined after hire.
Successful completion of patient care technician specialist class.
Successful completion of basic information system training.
Microcomputer experience preferred.
Nursing Student that has completed one clinical rotation preferred Emergency Medical Technician (EMT or Paramedic or currently enrolled in an EMT or Paramedic program preferred.
Successful completion of a basic arrhythmia course and annual competency required.
