The Hospital Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious and safe meals for patients, staff, and visitors while following hospital dietary guidelines, food safety regulations, and special dietary requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and hospital menus.
Follow special diets, including diabetic, low-sodium, pureed, and other therapeutic diets.
Maintain proper food portions, temperatures, and presentation.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures.
Operate and clean kitchen equipment safely.
Store, label, and rotate food products according to established guidelines.
Monitor food temperatures and maintain proper documentation.
Assist with meal tray preparation and timely delivery of patient meals.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and food preparation area.
Communicate with dietary staff regarding patient meal requirements and food allergies.
Minimize food waste and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
Follow hospital policies, OSHA standards, and applicable health regulations.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED preferred.
1+ year of cooking experience in a hospital, healthcare,
