UPMC St. Margaret is seeking a Patient and Family Concierge (PFC to support our high acuity 3B unit. This role plays a key part in enhancing the patient and family experience while supporting unit flow and daily operations.

This position primarily works 12-hour day shifts from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Team members are required to work six weekend shifts per schedule and participate in weekend and holiday rotations. Floating or travel is not required.

The Patient and Family Concierge serves as a key liaison between patients, families, and the care team by providing guidance, communication support, and assistance with patient flow and unit needs. Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and escort patients and visitors to correct locations.

  • Provide hospital info and issue parking passes and scooters.

  • Track patient belongings at admission.

  • Clean and organize patient rooms and public areas.

  • Restock supplies and change linens.

  • Report maintenance issues.

  • Prepare and serve meals per dietary orders.

  • Deliver trays and confirm patient identity.

  • Safely transport patients, equipment, and specimens.

  • Disinfect and inspect transport equipment.

  • Set up, sanitize, and test telehealth carts.

  • Order and stock unit supplies and equipment.

  • Monitor inventory, expiration dates, and temperature logs.

  • Answer phones, respond to call lights, and assist patients.

  • Follow safety protocols and report incidents.

  • Performs in accordance with all other system-wide competencies/behaviors.Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must have the desire, drive, and compassion needed to provide an exceptional patient and family experience at all times.

  • High School diploma OR

  • active High School/GED program enrollment OR

  • one year of previous job experience required in lieu of HS Diploma/GED

  • Previous experience in health care or customer service is a plus, but not required.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
