Collaborate with Director and Manager-Mammography in the development and marketing of cancer care services.
Collaborate in the planning and implementation of ongoing cancer screening initiatives.
Identify target population by utilizing community service data, i.e. cancer mapping and/or other pertinent methods for women at high risk for under-utilization of breast health services.
Formulate relationships with members of the community by visiting churches, synagogues, schools, libraries, etc.
Work with community groups to increase breast health awareness and involve the community in program planning if possible.
Provide breast health education to individuals and groups.
Act as liaison for physicians placing patients on oncology protocols, working closely with research coordinator.
Develop and provide a wide range of diagnosis-related patient education that includes language-specific materials.
Develop resources and provide referrals to appropriate community resources, i.e. American Cancer Society, lymphedema services, and other support services.
Initiate communication with patients upon learning they have a suspicious mammogram or a positive finding.
Orient patients to the role of the Patient Navigator.
Act as liaison to facilitate communication with internal and external health care providers, assure timely appointments within Saint Peters radiology oncology surgery physician offices and other hospital departments as required for patient care.
