Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as a Patient Navigator in the Urology clinic working to optimize the Gender Health Program patient experience by assuring smooth patient flow, all referral documents are accurate and obtained, patients understand next steps in the treatment process, patients are able to discuss insurance challenges and incumbent refers to appropriate unit and overall patient satisfaction. The incumbent will act as a customer service advocate within all aspects of patient care working in a team setting that provides communication support to patients, Gender Health Program physicians and staff.

Salary range: $30.36 - $43.49 hourly

Required:

  • Ability to make independent judgments and to evaluate complex issues..
  • Administrative abilities to resolve complex issues.
  • Oral and written communication skills to speak with individuals of varying backgrounds to obtain and convey specific information.
  • Skill in working independently with a minimal amount of direction.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with physicians, staff, patients, and administrative personnel.
  • Knowledge of contact persons in order to direct patients to appropriate departments in an effort to resolve issues and provide patient-related materials.
  • Ability to speak to individuals using appropriate grammar and vocabulary to obtain information, explain policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of gender affirming care
  • Working knowledge of University policies, procedures, and forms as they relate to performance of job duties.
  • Skill in performing duties with frequent interruptions and/or distractions.
  • Computer skills should include working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as experience with Electronic Medical Records
  • Knowledge of insurance authorization and verification process.
  • Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices, and procedures.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
