MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is seeking a compassionate, organized, and service-focused Patient Care Coordinator to help patients access the services they need while supporting physicians and the broader healthcare team. In this highly visible role, you will guide patients and families throughout their care journey, coordinate appointments and surgical services, address barriers to care, and help ensure a seamless patient experience.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced medical office professional who enjoys helping others, managing details, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as a trusted navigator and advocate for patients and families, collaborating with physicians, clinical staff, and community resources to coordinate care and address barriers to services.
Coordinate office visits, specialty consultations, diagnostic testing, surgical cases, hospital admissions, and preoperative and postoperative appointments.
Manage referrals and communicate insurance requirements, potential financial responsibilities, appointment details, and procedure-preparation instructions to patients and families.
Provide comprehensive administrative support to physicians, including managing calendars, coordinating meetings, answering calls, relaying messages, and preparing correspondence.
Obtain, upload, scan, and accurately index medical records and clinical documentation within the electronic health record while supporting departmental quality, service, compliance, and outreach initiatives.
Minimum of one year of experience in a medical or clinical office setting, including experience as a Patient Registration Associate, Administrative Assistant, or in a comparable healthcare support role, required.
CONSIDERATION WILL BE GIVEN TO AN APPROPRIATE COMBINATION OF EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills and good telephone etiquette.
Knowledge of medical terminology Managed Care Medicaid and HMO/PPO insurances necessary.
Ability to deal effectively and professionally with a variety of different individuals.
Ability to organize and prioritize work.
This position has a hiring range of
USD $20.57 - USD $36.27 /Hr.
