JOB RELATIONSHIPS House Supervisor and/or Team Leader/Staff Nurse

DEFINITION OF POSITION The patient observer is a member of the healthcare team. The observer is responsible for monitoring one or more assigned patients on a designated unit for a specific time period. The role of the observer is to monitor the patient for safety. The observer may be delegated patient care tasks within his/her scope of practice in addition to monitoring the patient while under the supervision of the nurse.

QUALIFICATIONS Professional

• High school education or equivalent.
• Maintains listing with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Division of Health Service Regulation, Healthcare Personnel Registry as a Nurse Aide I.
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
