    Aspirus Health in Wausau, WI is seeking a PATIENT PLACEMENT SPECIALIST to join our ADMISSION AND TRANSFER CENTER team!

    Managing bed capacity is essential to the smooth running of a hospital since all departments are in some way dependent on bed availability. Determining the optimal number of hospital beds is a complex and challenging endeavor and requires models and techniques which are sensitive to the multi-level, uncertain, and dynamic variables involved

    Every decision made in a hospital has an impact on bed availability and in turn, patient flow.

    Planning is the forecasting and organizing the activities required to achieve the desired goals.

    Bed management involves constantly monitoring hospital admissions, discharges, and patient movement within the hospital so that accurate information is gathered to identify bed availability across all units. Awareness and impact of system regional trends affects the forecasting and decision making related to acceptance of transfers.

    HOURS: Part Time 0.6 FTE, 48 Hours Biweekly

    Experience/Qualifications

    Three years of healthcare experience, knowledge, and expertise in area of application, and demonstrated competency in critical thinking and prioritizing skills are necessary for patient placement and bed management required. Patient placement experience beneficial. Bachelor''s Degree in a healthcare or closely related field. Demonstrates effective delegation and decision-making skills as well as critical thinking skills. Possesses good coaching and communication skills. Demonstrate problem solving skills Understanding of appropriate patient placement and optimizing bed utilization. Demonstrate strong communication and listening skills Able to simultaneously handle multiple priorities Demonstrate a high level of accuracy, even under pressure Excellent organizational skills Possesses a strong working knowledge of PC based business applications such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, e mail system and EMR Demonstrates strong leadership capabilities, initiative, and good judgment. Utilizes strong communication and participative problem-solving skills. Possesses strong analytical skills. Ensures the protection of confidential data. Ability to negotiate. Works collaboratively with physicians and nurses.
