Summary:
This position is responsible for scheduling patient appointments in multiple departments and medical centers/clinics for clinical diagnostic or therapeutic exams. This position requires the collection of accurate demographic, insurance and diagnostic data elements. This position also requires a broad knowledge of scheduling, registration and payer requirements necessary to secure payment.
Responsibilities:
(25%)* Assesses scheduling duties in a manner that ensures timely and accurate allocation of staff. (25%)* Plans allocation of staff based on level of competency, client needs and staff availability.
(25%)* Implements work procedures, scheduling systems and effective internal and external communication to provide for efficient operations within the department.
(25%)* Evaluates effectiveness of scheduling, staffing needs and communication via required reports for Private Duty, Nursing Administration and other Medical Center/Nursing Departments, as required.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement as required by the Health System and the job description.
Understands and is accountable for the Health System's customer service program.

Holds self accountable for delivery of responsible care, demonstrates effective communication skills and interpersonal relationships.
Assumes responsibility for own continued professional development and assists with the development of other staff members.

Required Education:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Equivalent Experience: High School Graduate or successful completion of GED, required.

- Operates equipment as outlined on orientation checklists, policy and procedures. Participates in equipment in-services and competencies as they relate to role expectations.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
- Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
- Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
- Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
- Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
- Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
- Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
- Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
