Patient Service Rep - Pediatric Ambulatory Unit

Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawaii's only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawaii's leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawaii and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapiolani. The hospital is home to the Kapiolani Women's Center and the Women's Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapiolani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.

The Pediatric Ambulatory Unit at Kapi'olani is dedicated to providing family-centered, multidisciplinary care for children with cancer, blood and immunological disorders. Services include lab collection from central venous lines, diagnostics such as bone marrow aspirations and lumbar punctures, procedural preparations, pain management, complex chemotherapy administration, transfusions and a number of clinical services ranging from coagulopathy to immunology. Kapi'olani is a member institution of the Children's Oncology Group, which enables our children to receive the most up-to-date treatment methods by participating in the National Cancer Institute's approved clinical trials.

As a Patient Service Representative in our Pediatric Ambulatory Unit, you will help to ensure that our patients and their families receive warm, friendly and considerate assistance at our hospitals and clinics by acting as a liaison between patients of all ages and the professional staff of our hospitals and clinics, generally by performing a combination of clerical, reception and business duties. We are looking for someone sensitive and helpful, with excellent communication and customer service skills, ability to work effectively under minimal supervision, and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai'i's people.

Minimum Qualifications: High school or equivalent. Basic computer skills. One (1) year of clerical support experience in a position with public contact or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Associate's degree in Health Administration or related field. Medical terminology course. One (1) year experience in a physician's office or outpatient clinic setting.
