Title Patient Service Representative IHours 27 hours per week. Schedule: Monday, Tuesday – 12:00AM to 6:00AM (Overnight); Friday, Saturday – 11:00PM to 6:30AM (Overnight).Location Onsite at Lowell General Hospital – Saints Campus, 1 Hospital Drive, Lowell, MA.Requirements 1 week of full‑time training/orientation during the day shift (Monday through Friday 8:30AM to 5:00PM). 2 additional weeks of training, which may be conducted during the day, evening, or weekends. At least one winter and one summer holiday must be worked.Job Summary This role focuses on revenue cycle operations such as billing, collections, and payment processing, and performs Patient Access duties including the administrative and financial‑clearance tasks necessary to facilitate the procurement of clinical services.Job Overview Responsible for interviewing inpatients and outpatients to obtain accurate registration data, documenting demographic and financial information in the hospital registration system, completing pre‑service collection of patient liability, and verifying patient insurance and benefits eligibility. Performs pre‑authorization, pre‑certification, and notification as required by third‑party providers.Duties and Responsibilities Conduct pre‑registration tasks for specified inpatients and outpatients: collect demographic, financial, and clinical information for financial clearance; obtain missing insurance information; complete insurance verification using online systems or phone.Obtain consent for treatments and authorizations; explain signature requirements to patients or their representatives.Verify insurance coverage validity via eligibility tools; ensure appropriate plan codes are applied; identify coverage concerns.Collect auto and worker's compensation registration information from responsible parties; document missing data when necessary.Notify patients of financial liabilities based on insurance benefits and appointment charges.Take an active role in collecting patient payments; communicate collection policies and use credit card devices appropriately.Post collected payments in the system of record, verifying amounts and volumes comply with guidelines.Provide financial counselor contact information to patients qualifying for state‑sponsored assistance; document financial state in the system.Obtain authorizations, pre‑certifications, referrals, or notifications as necessary; attach verification to patient's account.Deliver excellent customer service and professional courtesy to all patients.Interact with physicians, nursing units, and office staff courteously.Maintain confidentiality of hospital financial information per HIPAA and other regulations.Meet area‑specific productivity and customer service benchmarks such as wait times, call monitoring scores, and registration call volumes.Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.Preferred Qualifications One year of experience in customer service, hospital registration, medical office, insurance, or a related field.Physical Requirements Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and lifting 10‑15 pounds.Ability to reach supply shelves, printers, and copiers.Chance of exposure to dust and typical office discomforts.Manual dexterity for computer keyboard operation.Ability to see computer screen and read reports.Ability to hear communications from coworkers, physicians, and other staff.Skills & Abilities Computer literacy, including Word, Excel, email, and learning new applications such as the organization's EHR; accurate data entry.Strong customer service skills, excellent interpersonal and telephone skills.Tactful interaction with patients, physicians, and insurance companies.Experience using computer‑based patient registration systems.Comprehensive understanding of private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid programs.Knowledge of medical terminology.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to prioritize work and remain flexible with assignments.Pay Range $20.12 – $25.15 per hour.#J-18808-Ljbffr
