Job Description

Provides administrative and patient support within a healthcare setting, ensuring accurate documentation, effective communication, and a positive experience for patients and clinical staff. This role supports the nursing team by attending required meetings and trainings, maintaining detailed records of care, and using electronic systems to manage patient information efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Attend meetings, orientations, and trainings as directed by the charge nurse and management to stay current on policies, procedures, and workflow changes.
  • Document care provided on the appropriate forms and systems during each shift and at the end of the shift, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Use electronic medical records (EMR) and other healthcare record systems to enter, update, and retrieve patient information in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Apply medical terminology correctly when documenting and communicating patient-related information.
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service to patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Collaborate with healthcare support staff and clinical teams to support smooth patient flow and coordination of services.
  • Use Microsoft Office and related computer applications to complete daily administrative tasks and documentation.

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to document and communicate patient care information accurately.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) or electronic healthcare record systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Microsoft suite applications.
  • Strong customer service skills in a healthcare or healthcare support environment.
  • Ability to document care clearly and accurately on required forms and systems throughout and at the end of each shift.
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • General computer skills with the ability to learn and use healthcare-related software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a healthcare support or patient services role is beneficial.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and staff.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy when handling patient records and documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks during a busy shift.

Work Environment

This position operates in a healthcare facility environment, supporting clinical staff and patients. The schedule follows a second shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with every other weekend required. The role offers shift differentials for second shift hours and additional differential pay for weekend shifts. You will work extensively with electronic medical records systems and Microsoft Office applications while interacting regularly with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Windham, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
