    Patient Services Representative - UPMC Children & Teen Center

    Schedule

    • Monday through Friday
    • Day shift rotating between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
    • No holidays

    About the Role

    Join a dedicated pediatric team that provides care to patients from newborn through 18 years of age. This practice primarily serves an underserved population and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while supporting patients and families throughout their healthcare journey.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide a warm and welcoming experience for all patients and families.
    • Assist patients with self-arrival technology or complete the check-in process based on patient preference.
    • Collect copayments and other applicable patient payments at the point of service.
    • Confirm and update patient demographic and registration information.
    • Schedule follow-up appointments and coordinate ancillary services as needed.
    • Guide patients through the healthcare system by providing clear instructions and support.
    • Follow up on unresolved patient questions or concerns to ensure continuity of care.
    • Utilize service recovery principles to address and resolve patient concerns while supporting the UPMC Experience.
    • Enroll patients in the biometrics (fingerprint recognition program and explain its benefits.
    • Promote the MyUPMC patient portal and assist patients with registration and navigation.
    • Educate patients regarding financial responsibilities and connect them with advocacy resources when appropriate.
    • Verify insurance coverage and benefits through online systems and carrier inquiries.
    • Obtain required consent and financial responsibility signatures in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
    • Appropriately triage and route phone calls to providers, clinical staff, or other departments.
    • Support office operations through administrative tasks, including scanning, faxing, and document management.
    • Maintain knowledge of UPMC Patient Portal features and assist patients in accessing health information and care services.
    • Collaborate with providers, clinical staff, and office team members to deliver exceptional patient care and customer service.
    • Completion of high school graduate or equivalent is required.
    • Experience with personal computer-based applications, other various office equipment and proficient typing skills are preferred.
    • Two years of experience in a medical / billing / fiscal or customer service function is preferred.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
    • Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems is preferred.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    • Act 34
