Monday through Friday
Day shift rotating between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

About the Role
Join a dedicated pediatric team that provides care to patients from newborn through 18 years of age. This practice primarily serves an underserved population and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while supporting patients and families throughout their healthcare journey.

Responsibilities:
Provide a warm and welcoming experience for all patients and families.
Assist patients with self-arrival technology or complete the check-in process based on patient preference.
Collect copayments and other applicable patient payments at the point of service.
Confirm and update patient demographic and registration information.
Schedule follow-up appointments and coordinate ancillary services as needed.
Guide patients through the healthcare system by providing clear instructions and support.
Follow up on unresolved patient questions or concerns to ensure continuity of care.
Utilize service recovery principles to address and resolve patient concerns while supporting the UPMC Experience.
Enroll patients in the biometrics (fingerprint recognition program and explain its benefits.
Promote the MyUPMC patient portal and assist patients with registration and navigation.
Educate patients regarding financial responsibilities and connect them with advocacy resources when appropriate.
Verify insurance coverage and benefits through online systems and carrier inquiries.
Obtain required consent and financial responsibility signatures in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Appropriately triage and route phone calls to providers, clinical staff, or other departments.
Support office operations through administrative tasks, including scanning, faxing, and document management.
Maintain knowledge of UPMC Patient Portal features and assist patients in accessing health information and care services.
Collaborate with providers, clinical staff, and office team members to deliver exceptional patient care and customer service.
Completion of high school graduate or equivalent is required.
Experience with personal computer-based applications, other various office equipment and proficient typing skills are preferred.
Two years of experience in a medical / billing / fiscal or customer service function is preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems is preferred.
