About the Role 

 

The Patient Services Representative is the first point of contact for patients and visitors and plays a key part in delivering an exceptional patient experience while supporting daily administrative operations. 

 

What You’ll Be Doing 

  • Greet patients, families, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Promote a positive patient experience and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Register patients for surgical procedures accurately and efficiently.
  • Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information. Scans necessary documents.
  • Inform patients of delays in physician schedules, assists with patient comfort while delayed.
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage appointment-related communication and general inquiries. Schedules appointments accurately.
  • Work with surgeons and surgical schedulers to obtain prior authorizations as needed.
  • Maintain, organize, and handle medical records in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Scan, file, and upload documentation into electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Assist with front office administrative tasks and data entry.
  • Order and maintain front office and clinical supply inventory as assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, and administrative team.
  • Ensure the reception and waiting areas remain clean, organized, and welcoming.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

What We Expect from You 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience in a medical office, ambulatory surgery center, or healthcare setting preferred
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with medical records and EMR systems
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, email, scheduling systems)
  • Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.

 

Reasoning Ability  

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 

 

Computer Skills 

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have thorough knowledge in computer information systems.

Salary Range

$20.00 – $28.00 per hour

The compensation range listed reflects the anticipated base pay for this position. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as relevant experience, education, skills, and work location.
