The Patient Support Communications Senior Manager, Kidney will be responsible for the development and execution of patient and HCP-focused materials that will support our build out of our kidney patient support program(s). A deep passion and curiosity in understanding and supporting the challenges patients face in their lives is imperative.

General/Position Summary

The Patient Support Communications Senior Manager, Kidney is part of the communications team and participates in the day-to-day execution of the patient communications strategy that supports those enrolled in our patient support program. The individual will support the development of our executed communication strategy by developing and/or updating materials for patients and leading the optimization of our materials and their performance. The Patient Support Communications Senior Manager, Kidney must share a passion for and commitment to helping patients as well as having a vision to continually enhance the patient experience by meeting evolving patient needs. This role will report to the Director, Patient Services Communications, Kidney

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for successful ideation, development, and execution of key tactics, messages, and materials for our internal teams who support both our HCP and patient stakeholders
  • Manage development of tactics with agency partners; validate tactics with key internal stakeholders where relevant; manage review/approvals of tactics through Commercial Review Committee (CRC)
  • Establish measurement plans for all owned materials and continuously monitor performance to inform future optimizations or discontinuation
  • Establish and lead the communications REP team and provides training and support to other new/junior members of the communications team
  • Develops new and maintains existing documentation of processes, work instructions, SOPs and ensures alignment on any process changes and work instruction updates
  • Manage multiple agency partners to ensure alignment, timely deliverables, and cost efficiencies where possible
  • Cultivate strong partnerships with cross-functional teams including the communications review committee (CRC) to support business goals

Required Education Level

Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Marketing, Business or related field

Required Experience

Requires 3+ years' experience in patient support, patient and/or HCP marketing, patient engagement, or other closely related roles. A passion for supporting patients in underserved and diverse patient populations is required.

Required Knowledge / Skills

  • Ability to understand assigned disease area and its unique patient journey
  • Ability to understand key elements of patient engagement strategy and incumbent's role in executing that strategy
  • Excellent communication skills; patient-centric and customer-service minded
  • Effective project management skills to manage multiple projects and processes, simultaneously
  • Ability to execute support materials across a variety of channels (e-mail, print, video, text, web)
  • Ability to oversee and maintain a high volume of materials with attention to detail to ensure consistency of messaging and branding
  • Exhibits ownership and broad accountability for assigned projects and internal assignments
  • Familiarity with Medical/Legal/Regulatory (communications review committee) review process
  • Working knowledge of commercial marketing related software and platforms including Veeva Vault PromoMats and Salesforce CRM or similar
  • Entrepreneurial spirit who enjoys working in a fast-paced, results-driven, environment within a growing business unit
  • Contributes to Vertex's culture of compliance by focusing on ethics and integrity in all interactions
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-driven, environment, with the ability to multi-task

Pay Range:

$140,000 - $210,000

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
