Position Summary

The Patient Transport Aide transfers patients throughout areas of service at Geneva General Hospital. Patients are transported in wheelchairs and stretchers. This is a very important position because it collaborates with every unit to ensure patients are able to receive the best care possible.

Education

  • High School education or equivalent
  • Certification Required

Geneva General Hospital provides the required Basic Life Support training and certification through the Resuscitation Quality Improvement program (RQI). Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training is also required training that Geneva General Hospital provides.

Experience

  • Customer Service experience in a healthcare setting is preferred

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides safe transportation for patients using various modes such as wheelchairs and stretchers.
  • Assists nursing personnel with transporting medically complex patients to ensure safe and continuous monitoring.
  • Transports patients utilizing infection prevention practices as appropriate.
  • Responds to calls in a timely manner.
  • Promptly communicates any delays to appropriate area. Utilizes established communication tools such as the Ticket to Ride.
  • Performs non-routine work assignments as assigned by Nurse Manager or Clinical Leader.
  • Assists customer in locating various departments.
  • Displays a warm and welcoming demeanor to patients and families.
  • Prioritizes requests and communicates expected response times.
  • Plans work and routes taken in order to maximize efficiency.

Salary Range 17.76 - 19.04
