Summary
Under the direction of the Logistics Supervisor, the patient transport driver will be responsible for transporting and assisting on a non-emergency transport van, transporting patients home and to other facilities as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
- Current unrestricted Driver License
- Basic knowledge of Carson Tahoe and surrounding area, familiarity using GPS device
Preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license
Essential Functions
- Provide a professional and caring service for all patients while in the care of Carson Tahoe Health.
- Ensure at all times that patient safety remains a priority and that safe systems of work are adhered to regarding wheel chairs, clamps, seatbelts, etc.
- At all times follow policies and procedures and safely transport patients from one facility to another.
- Must perform a vehicle check daily, prior to transporting patients.
- Report defects and deficiencies of the vehicle and equipment immediately, and check all vehicle inventory items at the end of shift and replace as needed.
- Maintain vehicle and equipment in accordance with organizations Infection Control Policy.
- Report facts concerning accidents and incidents immediately to the Logistics Manager.
- Adhere to Highway Code and speed limit at all times.
- Maintains logs recording cargo/passengers transported, arrival and departure times, and miles traveled.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
