Responsibilities:
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, a Transporter provides escort and/or elevator (as applicable) services to patients and assists with direct patient care on nursing units.
Assists patients in the inpatient nursing department in the rehabilitation process including:
- Transports patients via wheelchair or stretcher, to appointments, procedures, therapy sessions, and group activities.
- Assistance with daily living activities, such as toileting, showering, transporting, and answering call lights.
- Assists with meal services on the nursing units as directed.
- Distributes mail, flowers and packages to patients.
- Transports specimens as needed.
- Reports changes in patient condition to the appropriate clinician.
- Performs other duties as requested.
- Previous hospital experience preferred.
Qualifications:
One or more years hospital experience preferred.
