The City of Saco is seeking reliable, trustworthy, and motivated individuals to join our Police Department. As a Patrol Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining community safety and stability while upholding our core values of Professionalism, Accountability, Compassion, and Trust. Pay ranges from $37.66-$49.59/hr per hour and includes an excellent benefits package.

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

We’re looking for candidates who:

• Recognize dangerous situations and act decisively to protect people and property
• Demonstrate strong mental alertness and observational skills
• Communicate clearly—whether in court, in writing, with the public, or over radio equipment
• Engage effectively with individuals who are emotionally distressed or seriously injured
• Speak clearly over police radio and other electronic transmission equipment
• Make sound decisions quickly when faced with multiple options
• Retain and recall factual information related to laws, statutes, and codes
• Approach the public with fairness, compassion, and professionalism
• Operate a motor vehicle safely at high speeds and in all weather conditions
• Maintain conduct, on and off duty, that reflects community and professional standards
• Work Schedule and Availability: Must be able to work the established Patrol Officer schedule, which consists of 10-hour shifts, a four-day workweek, and assigned rotations of Sunday–Wednesday or Wednesday–Saturday. The position requires availability to work holidays and overtime as necessary to meet operational needs.
