Pima County Pavement Management is seeking a qualified, highly motivated
candidate to support the inspection and monitoring of pavement
preservation and repair projects within the Department of
Transportation. The position involves daily oversight of active
projects, including writing logs and reports on activities and
quantities. The candidate will also assist with data collection,
research for upcoming projects, and perform other tasks in support of
the pavement repair and preservation program.
Essential Functions:
As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, this
classification may include any of the following tasks, knowledge,
skills, and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is

incumbents of this class. Work assignments may vary depending on the
departments need and will be communicated to the applicant or incumbent
by the supervisor.
- Inspects Public Works construction projects for general compliance
with County specifications and design plans;
- Coordinates, monitors, and documents details of testing and start-up
procedures, and compiles results and certifications to ensure
Department and State minimum requirements are met prior to
acceptance of the construction work;
- Works with utility companies to establish suitable locations for
utilities within construction constraints, and inspects installation
of utility and drainage pipes;
- Ensures project specific requirements to minimize environmental and
public impact during construction are enforced;
- Executes confined-space/hot-entry procedures and uses safety
equipment as needed during the performance of the inspection
activities;
- Documents actions and activities during the performance of
construction activities and during emergency responses.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of experience in construction projects such as sewers, water
lines, roadways, bridges, flood control channels.

OR:
Two years of experience with Pima County as a Public Works Engineering
Technician, Sewer Line Construction Worker.

OR:
Two years of experience with Pima County as a Utility Locator or
Utility Coordinator.

(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or
university may be substituted.)

Preferred Qualifications: (Be specific in describing your experience

competencies, specifically addressing the required and preferred
qualifications.):

- Minimum two (2) years experience in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Minimum two (2) years experience in various mapping software
(Google, Bing, Apple, Panamas, etc).
- Experience with/knowledge of PAG and Pima County specification
and/or standards.
- Minimum two (2) years experience in transportation and roadway
infrastructure construction industry.
- Minimum two (2) years experience tracking material quantities.
