Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The foreman monitors and supervises the paving phase of a construction project. He ensures the job completes on
schedule and in accordance with the set specifications. The Foreman will perform many of the following tasks:
• Follow all health and safety regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment
• Follow and complete all tasks requested by the Jobs Superintendent
• Remove debris and keep the job site clean and free of hazards
• Read and interpret blueprints for project execution
• Assist crew when necessary
• Prepare construction site each day by cleaning obstacles and hazards
• Load or unload construction materials
• Remove, fill, or compact earth
• Direct traffic to ensure safety of pedestrians, motorists, and work crew
• Operate shovel, broom, ax, rake, hacksaw, jackhammer, picks, chop saw, vibrating plates, torch, and rotary
hammer
• Chop asphalt edges
• Must be attentive to equipment sights and sounds on the jobsite
• Perform site clean-up
• Ensure construction equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly
• Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner
• Operates paver, screed, roller, or other equipment required to complete the job
• Serves as crew supervisor in the field
• Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and
work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service
• Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans
• Produce schedules of and monitor attendance of crew
• Supervise and train workers
• Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met
• Complete daily Job Safety Analysis report, job report and timecard completely and accurately
• Timely communicate job and material issues, variances, and delays to the Job Superintendent
• Applying the principles of workplace respect on site
• Maintaining work standards and outlining behavioral expectations to ensure crew morale and productivity
• Ensuring crew compliance with project policies and procedures
