Payroll Accountant

Payroll Accountant
Pay: $58,500–$70,000 per year
Location: Near Albany, NY (on-site)
 
Our client is looking for a highly motivated Payroll Accountant to administer payroll, travel, and expense accounting. This role works closely with resources in finance, payroll, benefits, HR, and other accounting functions. We're looking for someone highly collaborative and analytical, who excels at problem-solving and can work both independently and as an effective contributor within a close-knit team.
 
Responsibilities

• Prepare weekly, biweekly, and monthly journal entries, accruals, forecasts, and reconciliations related to payroll and other compensation-related transactions
• Balance payroll, payroll tax, and vendor service-related bank activity, supporting the annual budget process and audit
• Work closely with the payroll provider to coordinate timely payroll tax filings
• Support integration efforts for acquired companies and system implementations
• Support the travel and expense reporting system, process monthly expenses and accruals, assist with expense report accounting audits, and initiate out-of-pocket reimbursements
• Prepare payroll and employment-related reports, and provide back-up support for the US Payroll Administrator

 
Core Skills & Competencies

• 3+ years of experience in payroll accounting or a related accounting role required
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field required
• Experience with integrated travel and expense systems (e.g., SAP Concur) preferred
• Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., ADP) preferred
• Experience with ERP platforms preferred
• American Payroll Association FPC or CPP certification preferred
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills
