Primary Scheduled Hours: Days, 80 hours per pay period

 

Job Summary:   Processes employee pay, leave and benefits.  Performs other accounting duties as requested, such as management reporting.  Facilitates alignment between Human Resources, Payroll and Accounting systems. Analyzes, prepares, and inputs payroll data, typically using the UKG automated system to produce accurate and timely payroll.  Reviews and resolves errors from edits.  Resolves employee and supervisory payroll questions.  Analyzes payroll reports and provides results to supervisor.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees at Newport Hospital & Health Services and associated organizations using electronic time-reporting systems.
  • Analyze timecards and perform manual entries or adjustments as required.

  • Ensure all federal, state, and local taxes, health benefits, retirement contributions, and garnishments are accurately calculated, withheld, paid, and reconciled on time.
  • Be knowledgeable of contracts and District policy regarding all employee types and application in payroll processing.
  • Serve as the organizational resource for wage and tax law updates, coordinating changes to align Payroll and Accounting system tax tables.
  • Review payroll taxes, L&I and unemployment per pay period and coordinate with Financial Analysts to reconcile to the general ledger.
  • Prepare and file annual W-2 forms with Social Security and the IRS.
  • Act as the primary liaison for departments, staff, and payroll vendors to resolve payroll inquiries, enforce policies, and distribute manager reports.

 

Education Background and Experience Requirements

Minimum Education:

High school graduate or equivalent

Required Licensure / Certifications:

Degree in Accounting desired. Significant experience may be substituted for degree

Required Experience:

Experience in payroll services required

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with UKG and ERP systems

Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation in increments increases annually.
