Why This Opportunity

This is a great opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys a mix of payroll, accounts payable, close support, and systems-driven work. You’ll join a stable, mission-oriented Financial Services organization where accuracy, ownership, and independent problem-solving are highly valued.

About the Company

Our client is a well-established, member-focused organization within the Financial Services and benefits space. The organization provides programs, resources, and services designed to support a dedicated professional member community.

The company offers the stability of an established organization with the collaborative feel of a close-knit finance team. This is a great environment for someone who enjoys meaningful work, strong internal partnerships, and exposure to accounting operations that directly support the business.

About the Payroll & Accounts Payable Accountant Role

The Payroll & Accounts Payable Accountant will own a blended accounting role focused on payroll, accounts payable, reconciliations, accruals, and general ledger support. This position will work closely with finance leadership and a small accounting team, offering strong visibility across payroll operations, vendor payments, and month-end close.

The role is ideal for someone who has handled payroll and AP in a structured organization and is comfortable taking ownership once trained. The Payroll & Accounts Payable Accountant will also help ensure financial data is accurate, timely, and properly reflected in the general ledger.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys balancing detailed transactional work with broader accounting responsibilities.

Role Responsibilities

  • Process in-house payroll and support related payroll accounting activity, reconciliations, accruals, and reporting.
  • Own full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice processing, vendor management, payment coordination, and issue resolution.
  • Manage travel and expense activity, corporate card processes, and expense administration through Concur.
  • Prepare and post payroll, AP, prepaid, and accrual-related journal entries in NetSuite.
  • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close deadlines.
  • Support wire, ACH, check, and other payment processes while maintaining strong controls and documentation.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve payroll, AP, vendor, and expense-related questions.
  • Assist with audits, reporting, process improvements, and ad hoc finance projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
  • 4–7 years of accounting experience, ideally within a mid-sized or larger organization.
  • Hands-on payroll experience, including payroll processing, reconciliations, and related accounting entries.
  • Strong accounts payable experience, including vendor management, payment processing, and expense support.
  • Experience with ADP required or strongly preferred.
  • Experience with NetSuite, Concur, and advanced Excel highly valued.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, close processes, reconciliations, and financial controls.
  • High attention to detail, strong judgment, discretion, and the ability to work independently.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Strong blend of payroll, AP, and accounting ownership rather than a narrow transactional role.
  • High visibility within a collaborative finance team and exposure to finance leadership.
  • Opportunity to work with key systems including ADP, NetSuite, Concur, and Excel.
  • Stable, mission-oriented organization with meaningful work and a strong member-focused purpose.
  • Great fit for someone who enjoys taking ownership, improving processes, and being trusted to work independently.
  • Career-path accounting opportunity with exposure to close, reporting, reconciliations, audits, and cross-functional work.
