This is a Boston based opportunity with a 4 day in office expectation (Monday - Thursday) with 1 day remote (Friday).

Who We Are:
Wayfair is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Analyst to support the accurate and timely processing of U.S. payroll. This role will manage payroll activities across multiple states, partner with internal teams and external payroll providers, and help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll requirements.The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with sensitive and confidential information.
What You’ll Do:
Support the end-to-end processing of U.S. payroll, including regular, off-cycle, bonus, termination, and supplemental payrolls.
Review payroll inputs, earnings, deductions, taxes, benefits, garnishments, and other payroll-related transactions for accuracy.
Perform payroll audits, reconciliations, and variance analysis before and after each payroll run.
Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and payroll-related tickets in a timely manner.
Partner with Human Resources, Benefits, Finance, Accounting, HRIS, Legal, and external payroll providers.
Maintain accurate payroll records and support payroll reporting and documentation requirements.
Assist with payroll tax filings, agency notices, wage and hour compliance, and year-end activities, including W-2 processing.
Support multi-state payroll compliance, including state and local tax registrations, reciprocity, unemployment insurance, and other applicable requirements.
Review and validate payroll system changes, upgrades, testing, and process enhancements.
Identify opportunities to improve payroll controls, automation, efficiency, and employee experience.
Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive employee and company information.
Participate in audits and provide supporting documentation as requested.
Document procedures and contribute to payroll process and knowledge management.
What You’ll Need:
0-3 years of U.S. payroll experience, preferably supporting a multi-state employee population.
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements.
Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms, such as Workday or similar systems.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, filtering, sorting, and data analysis.
Bachelor's degree.
A strong interest in emerging technology and the ability to integrate generative AI tools (e.g. Gemini) into daily tasks to drive efficiencies.
Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by Wayfair now or in the future. Visa sponsorship includes the following work visas: STEM OPT EAD, H-1B, H-1B1, E-3, O-1, J-1, or TN.
Experience with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, SQL or GBQ, and data visualization tools such as Google Data Studio (Looker, Tableau, or PowerBI).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting payroll populations of 5,000 or more employees.
Experience working with external payroll vendors.
Knowledge of payroll accounting, reconciliations, garnishments, benefits deductions, and payroll tax reporting.
Experience with payroll audits, process documentation, and internal controls.
