Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Audit and verify payroll hours for accuracy and compliance with established policies.
- Reconcile discrepancies between payroll records, timekeeping records, and WorkForce/Time & Labor systems.
- Process payroll adjustments according to established payroll schedules.
- Assist with maintaining compliance with payroll policies, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable federal and state requirements.
- Prepare payroll reports for audits, management review, and other business needs.
- Partner with HR, department leaders, and timekeepers to research and resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Respond to employee and management payroll questions and assist with resolving payroll-related issues.
- Reconcile payroll information across multiple systems to maintain data integrity and accuracy.
- Document payroll processes and assist with developing procedural guides and training materials.
- Perform payroll audits, mathematical calculations, and system data entry.
- Assist with payroll-related accounts payable activities, including requisitions and purchase orders.
- Perform additional payroll duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in payroll, accounting, or auditing required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Payroll certification, such as CPP or FPC, is preferred.
- Experience with payroll systems such as PeopleSoft HCM, WorkForce, or similar systems is highly preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Office 365 skills, particularly Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately with large volumes of data.
- Strong organizational, communication, customer-service, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive payroll information.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Availability to work occasional extended hours during peak payroll periods or special payroll projects.
