Payroll Analyst, Reston, VA ($35-40/hr)
Immediate need for a Payroll Analyst. The Payroll Analyst is responsible for maintaining the general ledger in accordance with US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and performing full rand of accounting tasks with respect to US payroll.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:- Assists with month-end/year-end close in support of US Accounting
- Creates weekly and semi-monthly general ledger journal entries
- Assists with General Ledger mapping issues for new hires and transfers
- Assists with General Ledger account reconciliations, including balance sheets and income statement accounts.
- Assists with prepaid and accrual account reconciliations
- Assists with general ledger postings to field units
- Prepares payroll reports requested by field accounting and other departments.
- Assists with monthly bank reconciliations issues
- Managers Escheatment process by researching, contacting employees, reissuing checks and preparing state reporting
- Research monthly lumpsum uncashed checks refunds
- Issues replacement checks or direct deposits with respect to stale dated checks
- Research daily lumpsum refunds for direct deposit reversals, stop pays, and rejected/deleted deposits
- Issues replacement checks or direct deposits
- Reviews early cashed check fee reports and assists with chargebacks to the units
- Assists with quarterly and annual payroll audits
- Assists with IS payroll tax issues and filings
- Updates payroll tax rates in the company's databases based on rate change notices
- Provides support for payroll transactions as requested by US accounting
- Research potential check fraud transactions
- Creates and amends the internal controls, policies & procedures
Requirements:- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 3+ years of payroll accounting or general accounting experience in a Workday environment
- 3+ years of general accounting experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) environment
- Experience with Workday Payroll, Workday Financials, and/or Workday General Ledger strongly preferred
- Familiarity with US GAAP and payroll accounting practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis
- 1 - 3 years of SAP experience in FI/CO ideal
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
- Extremely proficient with spreadsheets
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills. Must have the ability to analyze numbers and draw logical conclusions.
- Ability to plan and organize work schedules, establish workload priorities and perform assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Proficient in all Microsoft office applications.
- Must be extremely proficient with spreadsheets and database query skills.
