Description
Careerscape is recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing manufacturing company based in Charlotte, North Carolina, for a remote Payroll Assistant to support biweekly payroll processing and recordkeeping. This is a great opportunity for an early-career professional to build a foundation in payroll and accounting with a stable, established manufacturer.
Day to day, you will spend time reviewing timekeeping data, entering payroll adjustments, and keeping employee records accurate and up to date. You will thrive in this role if you are detail-oriented, comfortable working independently in a remote setting, and enjoy helping colleagues get quick, clear answers about their pay.
Responsibilities
Process biweekly payroll for all employees accurately and on time
Enter and update employee payroll data including hours, deductions, and adjustments
Verify timekeeping records for accuracy prior to payroll submission
Maintain organized payroll files and employee records in compliance with company policy
Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and payroll policies
Assist with processing garnishments, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions
Support reconciliation of payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies
Prepare payroll reports for management and finance teams
Assist with year end payroll processes including W-2 preparation
Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll regulations
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required, associate degree in accounting or related field preferred
Prior payroll, accounting, or administrative experience preferred but not required
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll software systems
Familiarity with payroll regulations and wage and hour laws a plus
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Reliable internet connection and dedicated home workspace for remote work
