RESPONSIBILITIES: The Payroll Assistant provides support to the Payroll Manager and the Payroll Specialist. The position requires respect for confidentiality, computer skills, a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or an associate degree with a minimum of two years of experience in payroll, tax or accounting/financial position. Must have excellent people skills and be proficient in oral and written communications, exercise good judgment, must accept responsibility and perform duties in an atmosphere of team-like cooperation. Excellent computer skills are required and extensive experience with word processing and spreadsheet software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Payroll experience in a university environment. A working knowledge of computerized payroll and payroll laws.

Organizational Relationships
The Payroll Assistant reports to the Payroll Manager. This position interacts with administrators, faculty, staff, and students. Will have occasional contact with outside agencies.

The Payroll Assistant works in a highly productive office and must work efficiently under pressure due to various deadlines. Deadline pressures require a well-developed sense of teamwork and common purpose. This position calls for initiative, good judgment, and a high degree of responsibility. By nature of the responsibilities of the office, the Payroll Assistant works in an atmosphere, which requires a high level of confidentiality.
