Job Title: Payroll Assistant / Timekeeper
Location: New York, NY 10004
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Day Shift (08:00 AM – 04:00 PM)
Duration: 9 Weeks | 40 Hours/Week


Job Summary

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Assistant / Timekeeper to ensure accurate timekeeping and payroll processing for a large workforce. This role supports timely payroll operations, compliance with policies and labor regulations, and maintains high data accuracy in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review and process employee timesheets, ensuring accuracy and supervisor approvals
  • Monitor time entries, missed punches, overtime, shift differentials, and exceptions
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and assist with corrections and adjustments
  • Support payroll processing, including taxes, garnishments, and year-end activities
  • Track employee leave (sick, vacation, FMLA, comp time) and update systems accordingly
  • Coordinate with HR and departments on leave and attendance issues
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and audit-ready documentation
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, labor agreements, and regulations

Required Skills & Experience

  • 1–2 years of payroll or timekeeping experience
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes and timekeeping systems
  • Experience handling discrepancies and payroll audits
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a high-volume environment
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Oracle or PeopleSoft payroll systems
  • Familiarity with union/public sector payroll practices
  • Exposure to large workforce payroll environments
  • Knowledge of garnishments, tax processing, and year-end reporting

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Accounting, or related field preferred
