Job Summary:
The Payroll Associate I role is responsible for supporting backend payroll tax operations and ensuring accurate payroll tax processing after payroll completion. This position focuses on payroll tax filing, tax notice resolution, coordination with state agencies and tax vendors, and supporting payroll-related projects in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Process and support payroll tax activities, including federal, state, and FICA taxes
- Handle payroll tax filings and ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations
- Work with state agencies, tax providers, and third-party vendors regarding payroll tax matters
- Manage tax notices, power of attorney documentation, and third-party authorizations
- Support payroll-related projects, including testing and process improvement activities
- Communicate with internal teams and external tax vendors through internal ticketing systems and meetings
- Review payroll tax data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies as needed
- Maintain consistency and attention to detail in all payroll tax processing activities
- Work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 2 3 years of payroll tax experience
- Strong understanding of payroll taxes, including federal, state, and FICA taxes
- Experience with payroll tax filing processes
- Multi-state payroll tax experience required
- Experience working with state agencies and tax vendors
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- High attention to detail with strong self-motivation and consistency
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting payroll testing and project activities
- Previous experience handling payroll tax notices and third-party authorizations
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Work Environment:
Collaborative team environment involving internal ticket management, meetings, testing activities, and vendor communication
Salary:
The hourly rate for this position is $25 $26 per hour.
