Payroll & Benefits Specialist
Dallas, TX Area | 100% Onsite
$25.00/hr Based on Experience
Monday–Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm | Full-Time
ROLE IMPACT
As the Payroll & Benefits Specialist, you'll serve as the subject matter expert for payroll processing, HRIS administration, and employee benefits. You'll ensure accurate and timely payroll, maintain system integrity, support compliance initiatives, and provide outstanding customer service while helping improve HR processes and technology.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls accurately and on time, including payroll adjustments, incentive payments, and variable compensation
- Coordinate payroll approvals, reconcile payroll tax filings, and support quarterly and annual reporting
- Maintain employee records, organizational hierarchy, security access, and data integrity within HRIS, payroll, benefits, and time management systems
- Administer employee benefits, including new hire enrollments, payroll deductions, monthly benefit reconciliations, and vendor communications
- Serve as the primary contact for disability claims, leave administration tracking, and benefits-related employee inquiries
- Generate payroll, benefits, audit, and compliance reports for leadership and third-party vendors
- Maintain employee personnel files, record retention, FMLA tracking, Volunteer Time Off (VTO), and remote work records
- Perform routine audits to ensure data accuracy, compliance, and system integrity
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll, HRIS, and benefits processes through technology, automation, and best practices
- Cross-train across multiple HR functions while providing exceptional customer service to employees and internal stakeholders
WHAT YOU BRING
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 3+ years of payroll and benefits administration experience
- Strong understanding of payroll processing, HRIS systems, and benefits administration
- Experience with Paylocity preferred
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and reporting, preferred
- Knowledge of payroll tax reporting, compliance, and HR recordkeeping
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills
- Payroll certification or advanced payroll training is a plus
