Job Summary

Job Summary

Under supervision, performs a full range of payroll accounting procedures related to the District regular and variable payrolls and benefit programs. Typical duties will include, but are not limited to: processing new employees for payroll; checking and updating payroll records each pay period; computing payroll deductions including those for retirement, union dues, tax sheltered annuities, credit union, insurance, workers compensation, garnishments and manage and balance deferred income program; processing and checking for signature approvals, appropriate budget lines and valid dates on variable time cards for student employees, part-time employees, substitute employees and employees working overtime; double time, extra hours, trainings, and stipends, handling new and close of contracts, retroactive pay, damages or lost checks and vacation; recapping payroll by various groups; and checking payroll warrants and posting salary data to employee records. Audit and set up W-4 information based on retirement system to ensure compliance with STRS and PERS rules and regulations. Other duties will include acting as liaison between the District and benefit program providers; answering inquiries from employees regarding payroll, benefit programs and deferred income programs; assisting with the processing, open enrollment, invoicing and reconciliation of health and welfare benefits for employees, COBRA and retirees; conferring with data processing and accounting personnel at the County Office of Education concerning payroll/benefit programs and procedures; reconciling District payroll with the County monthly; and preparing various reports and maintaining confidentiality of employee information and records. Performs other related duties as assigned.
