Job Title: Prevailing Wage & Certified Payroll Administrator
Position Summary
The Prevailing Wage & Certified Payroll Administrator is responsible for managing all aspects of prevailing wage compliance for public works projects. This role oversees certified payroll reporting, DIR compliance tracking, labor compliance documentation, and employee payroll records to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations. The position supports approximately 70â80 employees across multiple active prevailing wage projects.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and submit certified payroll reports for public works projects.
Ensure compliance with prevailing wage requirements and labor compliance regulations.
Monitor and maintain contractor registration and project information within the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) system.
Track and manage DIR reporting requirements for multiple active prevailing wage projects.
Review employee classifications, wage determinations, fringe benefits, and overtime calculations for compliance.
Maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation for audits and agency reviews.
Coordinate with project managers, human resources, and accounting teams regarding labor compliance requirements.
Respond to requests from government agencies, auditors, and prime contractors.
Reconcile payroll data and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Stay current on prevailing wage laws, labor regulations, and reporting requirements.
Support payroll processing and employee record maintenance as needed.
Qualifications
Experience with prevailing wage compliance and certified payroll reporting.
Knowledge of DIR reporting requirements and public works regulations.
Strong understanding of payroll practices, wage determinations, and labor compliance procedures.
Experience managing payroll records for 70â80 employees or more.
Proficiency in payroll software, Microsoft Excel, and reporting systems.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in construction, public works, or government contracting environments.
Familiarity with labor compliance audits and certified payroll software.
Knowledge of federal and state prevailing wage laws.
