Description

Payroll Clerk

LHH is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to process weekly payroll for approximately 200 employees across two operating locations. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining employee payroll records, and supporting payroll-related reporting and compliance activities. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, the ability to handle confidential information, and a commitment to accuracy. This position is temp to hire and will pay between $22 and $27/hr.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly payroll for approximately 200 employees across two locations, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
  • Review and verify employee timecards, attendance records, and payroll-related data.
  • Enter payroll adjustments, including bonuses, commissions, deductions, reimbursements, and garnishments.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records and update information as needed.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, benefits, and payroll policies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and assist with payroll audits as required.
  • Prepare payroll-related reports for management and accounting purposes.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources regarding new hires, terminations, and employee status changes.
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reporting.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience.
  • Experience processing payroll for multi-location operations preferred.
  • Strong understanding of payroll practices, tax withholdings, and payroll regulations.
  • Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet weekly deadlines.
