About this role:

As Director of Payroll, you'll lead all facets of payroll operations, crafting both short and long-term strategies to enhance efficiency and align with company objectives. Your role encompasses ensuring compliance with federal and state wage regulations while fostering scalable processes that accommodate organizational expansion. You'll champion exemplary customer service, establish SOPs, and devise budgets in line with the company's financial targets, driving the payroll function towards excellence and adaptability.

Education

  • B.A. in Finance/Accounting or related experience

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years managing payroll departments within large multi-state companies, including in depth knowledge of payroll tax processing, internal/external audits, garnishments and wage and hour laws and regulations 

Licenses/Certifications

  • C.P.P. preferred, but not required
What you will do:
  • Oversee payroll administration and systems for 15,000+ employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with payroll laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement training guidelines, SOPs, and strategic initiatives to optimize payroll processes and align with organizational goals, supporting acquisition/divestiture efforts when necessary.
  • Collaborate with support center leadership, payroll managers, and vendors to minimize off-cycle check processing and enhance employee satisfaction with timekeeping policies.
  • Manage audits, tax reconciliations, and financial reporting for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end cycles, while implementing payroll metrics to evaluate service levels and mitigate business risks.
  • Lead and mentor payroll team members, conduct performance evaluations, and drive individual and team development initiatives to meet budgetary goals and optimize financial performance.
