Project Background

Heidelberg Materials operates today with two HCM platforms: Workday and JD Edwards (JDE). While Workday serves as the primary HCM platform, JDE remains in place to support payroll processing and acts as the source system for numerous HR, Benefit, Retirement and payroll-related integrations and downstream interfaces.

As part of Project PROPEL, Heidelberg Materials is implementing ADP Lyric Payroll for the United States and Canada and retiring JDE Payroll. This transformation will eliminate the need for a dual-HCM landscape by fully transitioning payroll administration from JDE to ADP and establishing Workday as the single system of record for employee data and workforce transactions.

The implementation will require the redesign and transition of existing JDE integrations and interfaces to Workday and ADP, including connections with UKG, SAP, HCSS, TMW,  and other operational systems and vendors.

The selected partner will provide client-side advisory, project governance, and payroll transformation expertise to support implementation readiness, solution design validation, integration strategy, risk management, testing, and successful deployment.

Responsibilities:

  • Executive advisory services
  • Payroll transformation guidance
  • HCM and payroll process design oversight
  • Workday-to-ADP integration strategy and validation
  • Future-state process validation
  • Design and architecture oversight
  • Risk identification and mitigation
  • Participation in steering committee meetings
  • Independent review and challenge of implementation partner recommendations
  • Transition planning from JDE to the future-state environment

Requirements (The file doesn't have requirements on the file – SAI is used to generate this):

  • 10+ years of experience in payroll transformation, HCM, or HR/payroll advisory roles
  • Strong experience in executive-level advisory and stakeholder engagement
  • Deep knowledge of payroll process design, future-state operating models, and transformation planning
  • Proven experience with Workday and ADP payroll implementations
  • Experience validating Workday-to-ADP integration strategy and business processes
  • Experience reviewing payroll architecture, design decisions, and implementation partner recommendations
  • Strong background in identifying risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans
  • Experience supporting steering committee and executive governance meetings
  • Demonstrated experience transitioning from JD Edwards Payroll or another legacy payroll platform to a modern payroll solution
  • Experience supporting complex payroll environments, ideally including union, hourly, and multi-jurisdiction workforces
  • Knowledge of U.S. and Canadian payroll regulations, tax, and compliance requirements
  • Experience with payroll testing, parallel testing, reconciliation, and cutover planning
  • Understanding of payroll integrations with HCM, timekeeping, finance, benefits, retirement, and third-party systems
  • Ability to work with large enterprise environments and multiple business units
