Our client is seeking a Payroll Lead to join their Human Resources team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys managing complex, multi-state payroll operations while driving process improvements and serving as a subject matter expert within the organization.

After an initial onboarding period, this role will transition to a hybrid schedule consisting of three days in the office and two days remote.

About the Opportunity

The Payroll Lead will oversee payroll processing for a large workforce across multiple states and entities while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position offers long-term growth potential, including the opportunity to advance into a Payroll Manager role.

Key Responsibilities

• Process payroll for 500+ employees across multiple states and business entities

• Prepare prevailing wage and certified payroll reports

• Complete quarterly federal and state payroll tax filings

• Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws and payroll regulations

• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries

• Partner with payroll vendors and internal stakeholders to troubleshoot payroll issues

• Maintain payroll records and support audits as needed

• Identify and implement payroll process improvements

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll processing experience

• Experience managing multi-state and multi-entity payroll

• Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements

• Experience with prevailing wage and certified payroll reporting

• Proficiency with payroll systems, preferably ADP Workforce Now

• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

• CPP certification preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered

Compensation & Benefits

• $28-$33/hour
