Payroll Specialist (On‑Site | Temp‑to‑Hire)

Pay Rate: $27-$31 per hour

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Payroll Specialist to join our client's team in the area of North Highalnds, CA. This is a temp‑to‑hire opportunity for a payroll professional who can manage end‑to‑end payroll processing with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality. The ideal candidate has at least three years of payroll experience. This position is fully on‑site.

Key Responsibilities

• Process full‑cycle payroll on a regular schedule, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Review, verify, and enter employee timecards, including overtime, and multiple pay rates
• Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data, ensuring confidentiality at all times
• Respond to employee payroll questions and resolve discrepancies promptly
• Coordinate with HR and accounting regarding new hires, terminations, wage changes, and benefits updates
• Assist with workers' compensation reporting and union reporting, if applicable
• Contribute to process improvements and ensure adherence to internal controls
• Perform other payroll and administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Minimum of 2 years of hands‑on payroll processing experience (required)
• Solid knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
• Experience working with payroll systems and timekeeping software
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal teams
• Reliable and able to work 100% on‑site
