The Payroll Specialist role will be responsible for processing, coordinating, and maintaining payroll operations to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time. In addition, this role will partner with highly skilled professionals across the business to ensure compliance with payroll regulations, maintain accurate records, and drive efficient payroll processes. This candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and passionate about delivering a seamless payroll experience. In addition, the person in this role will have the mentality to think like a business owner and take a proactive yet collaborative approach to supporting organizational goals. This position reports directly to the Payroll Manager or Finance/HR leadership.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Collect, enter, and review employee pay data to ensure accurate and timely weekly payroll processing.
  • Process and audit payroll using ADP Workforce Now 2.0 and ADP Enterprise ETime.
  • Oversee the complete organization of all payroll files and maintain a meticulous filing system.
  • Assist in developing and implementing improved payroll processes for enhanced efficiency.
  • Maintain a firm grasp of payroll theory and apply legislative and company-driven changes with accuracy.
  • Meet rigorous deadlines and adhere to strict timetables.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for all payroll-related inquiries.
  • Process and maintain data for new hires, terminations, and employee status changes.
  • Manage direct deposits, tax changes, deductions, benefits enrollment, and other payroll-related elements.
  • Respond to unemployment requests, tax notices, and auditing/regulatory inquiries to ensure payroll compliance.

Requirements

  • Prior experience processing weekly payroll in a high-volume environment.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and maintain a positive team environment.
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy are essential.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maintain a professional and helpful demeanor when interacting with employees.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • The ability to work independently and take initiative.
