THE ROLE OF A COREPOWER PAYROLL SPECALIST

The Payroll Specialist supports accurate and timely payroll operations for a multi-location workforce through payroll processing, auditing, employee support, and cross-functional partnership. Ensures compliance with payroll regulations, maintains data integrity within Workday, and delivers a high level of service to employees and leaders while supporting operational efficiency and risk mitigation.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Payroll Processing & Administration:

  • Processes payroll accurately and on schedule for hourly and salaried employees across multiple locations and/or states
  • Reviews payroll data including timekeeping, earnings, deductions, bonuses, commissions, retro pay, and tax withholdings for accuracy and compliance
  • Ensures payroll transactions are processed in accordance with company policy and payroll deadlines
  • Maintains employee payroll records, direct deposits, garnishments, and tax documentation within Workday

Payroll Auditing & Compliance:

  • Conducts payroll audits and reconciliations to identify discrepancies, missing information, or compliance risks
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws including wage and hour requirements
  • Supports year-end payroll processing activities including W-2 preparation, audits, and reporting
  • Maintains confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive employee payroll information

Employee & Leader Support:

  • Serves as a point of contact for employee and team member payroll-related questions and issue resolution
  • Researches and resolves payroll discrepancies in a timely and professional manner
  • Provides guidance to leaders and HR partners regarding payroll processes, timelines, and best practices

Systems & Process Management:

  • Maintains payroll data integrity and supports system updates, testing, and process improvements within Workday
  • Partners cross-functionally with HR, Benefits, Finance, and Operations to ensure accurate employee data flow
  • Supports reporting and payroll analytics to identify trends, errors, and operational improvement opportunities

EDUCATION, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2–5+ years payroll experience with:
    • Workday – Payroll, Time Keeping and Reporting
    • Experience processing payroll in high-volume and/or multi-state environments
    • Experience auditing payroll data and resolving discrepancies
    • Supporting employee payroll inquiries with strong customer service focus
    • Partnering cross-functionally with HR, Benefits, Finance, and Operations teams
  • CPP or FPC certification preferred
  • Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail and confidentiality

COMPENSATION

  • Based on relevant experience, $65,000- $75,000 annual salary
  • Bonus potential up to 5%
