Position: Payroll Specialist
Location: Fairfield, NJ-Corporate Office (On-Site)
Reports to: Head of Payroll

Principal Purpose of Position:
This position is for a full time Payroll Specialist to performs a wide variety of support and administrative activities in payroll. Processes biweekly & semimonthly payroll, timely and accurately for approximately 900+ Exempt and Nonexempt employees. Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal laws. Takes initiative to ensure that all department payroll data and record keeping is complete and accurate. Provides excellent customer service to employees.
The Daily:
Reviews and resolves any exceptions in timekeeping software, working with employees and managers to ensure timesheets are completed and approved timely.
Answers routine questions related to pay and taxes as well as timekeeping software.
Reviews the payroll setup of the new hires in the payroll and time and attendance systems.
Able to assist managers and employees on use of time & attendance and payroll systems.
Perform Pre and Post Payroll Audits before releasing for processing in order to minimize errors.
Assists with generating pre / post payroll reports.
Runs payroll/benefit reports as needed.
Perform all phases of biweekly & semi-monthly payroll cycle
Process and maintain wage garnishment and federal tax levies.
Process all additional payment information (commissions and bonus) timely and accurately.
Serve as liaison with for management for resolution of payroll related problems and questions.
Assist with preparation and distribution of year-end tax forms (W-2’s).
Assist with audit requests
Maintain, manage and ensure accuracy in UKG PRO.
All other duties as assigned.
Experience and Requirements:
At least five years of payroll experience preferred.
Strong computer skills including MS Excel & MS Word (v-lookup / Pivot Tables).
Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
Excellence in attention to detail and follow-up.
Ability to deal sensitively with confidential information.
Knowledge of Wage and Hour laws a plus.
UKG PRO experience preferred.
Excellent analytical skills
