The School District of Waukesha is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time, benefit eligible Payroll Specialist position to work at our district office. Please see attached URL for a comprehensive position description and qualification requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are examples of duties and responsibilities but are not limited to such activities and may change at any time with or without notice. Processes semi-monthly payrolls for hourly employee groups with main focus on the Aide employee group and summer school payrolls. Acts as backup to processing all other employee groups. Research and respond to inquiries from District staff on payroll and time card issues. Take appropriate action for problem resolution. Communicate and follow up with employees and approvers regarding True Time issues. Update employee profile changes such as direct deposit, tax changes, voluntary payroll deductions, special pays, W4, WT-4, retirement, FMLA & leave reviews and calculations. Accurately process payroll for new hires, terminations, and staff on leave. Responsible for True Time Timekeeping system configuration and maintenance. Monitors eligibility for WRS and FICA alternative plan and sends necessary enrollment paperwork to employees, including rehired annuitants. Enrolls eligible new hires into Wisconsin Retirement System. Allocates and audits sick time for the AIDE employee group; back up for all time off (sick, vacation, comp time) for all other employee groups: year end reporting. Responsible for garnishments (income withholding orders/third party levies, etc) for all employee groups. Responsible for summer school payrolls, working directly with the summer school office and HR. Responsible for wage verification/eligibility reports from Unemployment Compensation and is back up for verifications of employment. Assists with W-2 process and year end duties Performs general secretarial duties including, but not limited to, answering phones, sorting departmental documentation, incoming mail and filing. Utilizes various HRIS-related systems to extract data and generate reports as needed. Cross trains with other staff to provide departmental coverage and support. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position. Completes other duties as assigned.
