Payroll Specialist

Role: Payroll Specialist 

Location:- Phoenix, AZ 85012 

Pay: $19 - 24/hour

Hours: Mon - Fri 7:30am-4:30pm some flexibility; Some Sundays will be required but paid OT
Setting: 1-week training on-site then 99% remote (some meetings on site) 
 

Join a high-performing payroll team supporting approximately 1,900 employees across multiple states. We're seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist who can take ownership of payroll processes, ensure compliance, and serve as a trusted payroll resource.

What You'll Do

• Process biweekly payroll for a large multi-state workforce.
• Maintain employee payroll records, status changes, and terminations.
• Calculate final pay, severance, bonuses, and other special payments.
• Manage garnishments, deductions, and employment verifications.
• Audit timesheet data and payroll reports for accuracy.
• Reconcile payroll and benefit deductions.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Serve as a primary contact for payroll-related questions and issues.
• Create reports and support ongoing payroll projects and audits.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of payroll experience with a large employer.
• Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll taxes and wage laws.
• Experience with overtime calculations, 401(k) limits, garnishments, and payroll compliance.
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Ceridian experience strongly preferred.
• Detail-oriented professional who can work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
• Must be based in the Phoenix area.

Preferred Experience

• High-volume payroll processing in a complex, multi-state environment.
• Familiarity with California, Colorado, and Alaska wage/overtime regulations.
