Overview

UIC Government Services (UICGS) is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our Payroll Team in Springfield, VA. This role is ideal for candidates with a minimum of five years of payroll or accounting experience and a strong aptitude for working with accounting data in a fast paced, detail oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Payroll Manager under the daily direction of the Payroll Supervisor• Maintain, collect, and process employee timesheets using Deltek Time & Expense• Support payroll processing, including verifying payroll data, calculating payrolls, reviewing payroll reports, and initiating employee payments• Respond to employee inquiries and perform general administrative tasks such as answering phones, researching pay discrepancies, and reviewing tax agency notices• Assist with responding to data requests from internal departments and government agencies• Gain exposure to multiple payroll disciplines including payroll tax compliance, timekeeping, garnishments, audit support, and special projects• Assist with reconciliation of general ledger accounts related to payroll• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a payroll or accounting department• Experience with Deltek Time & Expense and Deltek Costpoint preferred; experience with ADP Smart Compliance is a plus• Strong knowledge of multi state, multi subsidiary payroll processes, including employment taxes, year end reporting, and payroll tax compliance• Excellent verbal and written communication skills• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook• Union/DBA/SCA payroll experience preferred• Highly detail oriented, organized, and capable of problem solving and shifting priorities as needed• Ability to work collaboratively within a team to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time

There are currently no security clearance requirements for this position, however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check. Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations.
