Payroll Specialist - Temporary Position

Express Employment Professionals of Mount Vernon is recruiting for a Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for our client that designs and manufactures single‑ and multi‑axis vibration test systems used across aerospace, automotive, defense, electronics, and other high‑reliability industries.

Our client is looking for a detail-driven Payroll Specialist who enjoys keeping operations running smoothly and supporting a busy workforce. In this role, you’ll take ownership of payroll for 120+ employees using Paycom, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance every step of the way. It’s a great fit for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands the complexities of WA and CA labor laws, and brings strong administrative and Excel skills to the table. If you’ve worked as a Payroll Clerk or HR Manager, you’ll feel right at home here!

What you get to do:

• Process full-cycle payroll for 120+ employees through Paycom with a high degree of accuracy
• Review and validate timesheets, earnings, deductions, PTO, and adjustments
• Maintain compliance with WA and CA labor laws, wage requirements, and reporting standards
• Prepare payroll reports and assist with audits as needed
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality
• Support HR and administrative functions, including onboard documentation and recordkeeping
• Maintain organized and accurate payroll files and digital records
• Collaborate with management to ensure timely and compliant payroll operations

What you need to be successful:

• Proficiency in Paycom (required)
• Strong knowledge of Washington and California labor laws
• Advanced Excel skills, including formulas and data management
• Experience in payroll, HR, or administrative support roles
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 (DOE)
