Payroll Supervisor

The Payroll Supervisor will lead a small payroll team while remaining heavily involved in day-to-day payroll operations. This role oversees payroll processing for approximately 1,500–2,000 employees, including both standard employee payroll and stipend-based payments for scholarship recipients. The ideal candidate has strong payroll compliance knowledge, experience with multi-state payroll, and a hands-on leadership style. Experience supporting organizations in research, higher education, healthcare, pharmaceutical development, or grant-funded environments is highly preferred.

• Supervise and support a payroll team of 2–3 employees
• Oversee payroll processing for 2,000+ employees
• Manage both standard employee payroll and stipend payroll for scholarship recipients
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
• Review payroll data, payment records, deductions, and employee changes for accuracy
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll inquiries
• Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity
• Administer and maintain Glacier for payroll tax reporting and compliance
• Oversee payroll compliance and reporting for foreign national employees, including visa-related payroll requirements
• Manage year-end and periodic tax reporting, including Forms 1042 and 1042-SPartner with HR, Finance, and other departments to improve payroll processes
• Support payroll system enhancements and implementations
• Perform payroll audits and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance
