An outsourced HR & Payroll services firm is hiring a Payroll Supervisor to run high-volume, multi-state payroll operations as the business scales (client base expected to grow significantly). This is a hands-on role for someone who loves clean processes, tight controls, and getting payroll rightevery time.
What youll do
Lead end-to-end bi-weekly payroll for 1,500+ employees, including tipped payroll
Handle multi-state payroll complexity with confidence and consistency
Own critical California payroll execution and support HR/payroll operational needs (including off-cycle payroll for hires/terminations)
Troubleshoot timekeeping-to-payroll workflows and reduce recurring payroll issues
Improve processes, build controls, and help scale payroll operations in a growing environment
Operate as a player/coach in a lean payroll team (youll stay hands-on)
What were looking for (must-haves)
Hands-on ownership of high-volume payroll (1,500+ employees) on a bi-weekly cadence
Strong multi-state payroll experience
Proven California payroll experience, including off-cycle payroll needs tied to hires/terminations
Comfortable in a client-facing, service delivery environment (outsourced payroll experience is a plus)
Able to commute to Irvine for onsite Tue/Wed/Thu
Tools (nice to have)
Paylocity (strong plus)
Timekeeping systems Altametrix a plus (we can train the right person)
Compensation & benefits
$40/hour +

This engagement may be structured as contract or contract-to-hire depending on client renewal; if contract-only, the project timeline may run through July 31, 2026. Well share the exact structure early in the process.
